Born to Joseph and Jennifer Thomas this
young life has been through a lot. Straying
from the Christian life at a young age Keron
began to attend parties and engaged in
promiscuous behavior. It was truly a dark
time in not only Keron's life but also his
parents. Being a Pastor who had to stand in
church every Sunday with your son unsaved
was difficult for Pastor Thomas. He longed
to see his son repent and accept Jesus
Christ as Lord.
It was a young woman, Nicole filled with
the Holy Ghost who would eventually return
Keron to his rightful place. Keron had a
strong liking towards this Christian young
woman and would intentionally attend church
to see her. This young woman was truly
strong willed since instead of giving in to
being his girlfriend she opted to being his
friend. Something Keron didn't consider but
this young woman wasn't pleased with his
current lifestyle and in no way was going to
get involved with him.
After a few months Keron encounter a
terrible situation in which he was unable to
overcome, and like the prodigal son all his
worldly friends departed from him. The one
person who stood by his side was Nicole. She
showed him love during his down time and so
led him once more to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Keron and Nicole are now happily married for
the last five (5) years.
After realizing that God was the only
true source, Keron decided to return to his
creator however he didn't return empty
handed but with a new found talent- singing.
He pursued the career and founded the group
Mission Epistle.
Keron Thomas has had the fore sight of
birthing a musical group for a long time.
Initially Mission Epistle was started with
his wife Nicole, Neil the keyboardist and
himself. They would frequently minister at
various church functions and all who came
into contact with their music was blessed.
It was Keron's father Pastor Joseph Thomas
who coined the word Mission Epistle and thus
giving the group its identity. Their music
was culturally based, heavily influenced by
Soca, Calypso and Reggae, even to this day
the group continues to maintain a strong
appeal to Caribbean listeners whilst
capturing the hearts of international
listeners as far as New York, Gianna,
Botswana, Nigera and Brazil.
Keron's vision went way beyond ministry
just in churches and thus he embarked on a
journey to recruit a team of young men and
women who would have a passion and hunger
for the things of Christ. Along the way many
decisions had to be made toward releasing
members who did not share the same the
vision as Mission Epistle, but as any good
leader he dealt with each situation with the
help of God and advice of good counsel.
In the early quarter of 2004 Mission
Epistle came into contact with an uprising
producer and great artiste in his own right,
Sherwin Gardner. Sherwin helped the new,
reformed group to produce their first single
"Worship You". Several other
singles ensued including "Truly"
and "United" featuring Spiritual
Ninja.
At this point in time Keron Thomas was
making frequent trips to the isle of spice,
Grenada and sharing the music of Mission
Epistle with the natives there. The music
was received well and in July of that year
the band went on a missionary trip to
Grenada and ministered in a week long VBS,
often taking over the classes and teaching
the children various arts and craft, and a
week long Crusade, where the group had to
split to attend various Baptist churches
across the island. The climax of the
weeklong proceeding was a concert, which
also featured another Trinidadian based
group CYI. The response from the people was
awesome and since then Mission Epistle has
become a house hold name in Grenada.
A devastating storm, Ivan hit the island
on September 16th, a day the group will
never forget, and before the month was over
Keron and Dwayne were on their way to
Grenada loaded with clothes and food
supplies.
2005 proved to be a great year for
Mission Epistle. This is the year where fate
stepped in, and a door was opened where the
group would be able to do a lot of studio
work that was necessary at this point in
time in the groups' life. Jason met a
budding new producer from Canada via the
internet and they exchanged several emails,
coincidentally the producer was coming to
Trinidad to live. Mark "Jah
Servant" Giles was introduced to the
group and immediately a bond was formed and
so they began working together. In the
latter part of 2005 Jah Servant offered the
group to be a part of his newly established
label, Servant's Records.
On April 13th 2006 in Trade Center ,
Grenada the group launched their album
entitled "Stand Up" which features
various genres of music including Soca,
Roots and Dancehall. Guest artist at the
event was Musical Schizophrenia Gitta Dan
and Tiko Angelos. Over 200 people came out
to support the Trinidad based group. The
album launch in Trinidad, August 12th 2006
was truly a highlight in the groups
existence. Guest artist included Sons of
Zion, Mention, Gitta Dan, Nicole Ballosingh
& Jadee. Trinis came out in their
numbers to support and filled up the Palms
Club venue. The album is proving to be a
success by many patrons.
Currently Mission Epistle has just
started working on their sophomore album and
it is due to be released early next year.
Their current album is available on the
World Wide Web via this Web Store. Besides
Grenada their album has also done well in
St. Vincent and New York and they have just
infiltrated South Africa. This group is
truly on the rise and with their versatility
in music and walk with God they are destined
to do great and mighty things for God
through their music.
